How to switch back from igoogle to classic google?

igoogle is the customized homepage of google.com. It gives you option of adding lots of stuff on the google page for eg. news, language translator, dictionary, currency and stock information etc.  Though many people use it, I never found it appealing. Recently when I wanted to disable igoogle and switch back to good old classic google, I simply could not find how to do that. Closing and re-opening the page did not help. After sometime only I realized that there is an option in the setting tab on the top right corner of the igoogle page. Click on the gear symbol and choose Classic Home.

The following is the screenshot of the “option”:

The same setting option can be used to switch from classic google to igoogle.

This only works for me until I close and then reopen Explorer — at which two pages open: one classic Google, and the other iGoogle. iGoogle is fine at home, but impossible to deal with on my work computer where the security settings are generating constant requests for permission to open the gadgets. Can I permanently get rid of iGoogle on the office computer only?

Strange that you are getting two page opened at the same time. It shouldn’t happen. I tried the following things just after you put things to my notice: 1. Logged in to google and set it to igoogle. Signed out. Opened google again and it was set to igoogle. 2. After signing out from igoogle I opened a different bowser and logged into the google. It was google classic. 3. While signed into the igoogle I opened a different bowser and logged into the google. It was google classic, not igoogle.

After trying various combination I would conclude that this igoogle stuff is browser dependent rather than being account dependent. So you can happily switch to classic google at work and igoogle at home.

      Enjoy.
