Now in a world where texting is easy, cheap, and a simple few clicks away, it’s easy to understand that millions of people are taking part in this every day. But these millions of people do have their own texting styles. There will always be features in their texts, some idiosyncrasies that will make sure that their texts are discernible from others. This may be a few dots at the end of each sentence they type or some typically misspelled word. But these are all linguistic analyses.
For anyone receiving texts, it is pretty easy to categorize people as ‘texters’, or certain kind of texters. In this way, just about everyone falls under one category or the other. Not sure if you can put anyone in a specific category? Read the infographic and you’ll realize you can, you might also realize that you yourself fall under these categories yourself too!

For starters, we can all relate to the ‘professor’ kind of texters. These are those folks who seem to miss the days of lengthy letter writing and compensate by sending out long winding detailed texts that become a real pain to read. Usually these are people of older generations who can’t figure out how to adapt to this style of writing.
Then there are the complete opposites, the ‘husbands’ if you will. These texters are always brief, abrupt, and have an uncanny knack of replying way too late. You can imagine how difficult it would be to have conversations with them and how irksome it would be if you have a real reminder or request at stake.
Coming to the younger generation, there will be those who fall into the ‘rapper’ category. In other words these are the texters who send out new creative lingo that resembles rap lyrics but are almost impossible to decipher in terms of meaning. So while you scratch your head trying to figure out what it is they are trying to say, they coolly continue with their coded texts.
All of these should sound familiar by now. So tell us whether you fall into one of the categories we’ve illustrated, or perhaps you know someone else who does?
