The new Nexus 5 has arrived in the market and many will be getting this ultimate device in their hands very soon. And one the first thing to enter in most people’s minds must be unlocking the Bootloader because the Nexus 5 comes with locked Bootloader. Unlocking the Bootloader allows you to install the custom ROM, put on a costume recovery and root it. So in this article, we’ll show you how to unlock Nexus 5 bootloader with a Step-To-Step tutorial.

- The tutorial has been performed for Windows, but you can also perform this Unlocking on Mac or Linux if you are familiar with Fastboot on them.
Precautions:
- Keep the Back Up of all your data as unlocking the bootloader will reset your device to factory settings.
- Charge your device before you start the unlocking process. The charging should be above 80% because in case your device goes dead while the processing, it can result in bricking.

- After downloading the Android SDK and installing the USB Drives. Set up the ADB/Fastboot with Android SDK. Click here to learn how you can do it.
- On your Nexus 5, go to Settings>Applications>Development and check the USB Debugging Mode.
- Now download the Fastboot and extract it in android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory. (Create the directory if it’s not there).
- Switch Off your Nexus 5 and access the reboot mode by pressing the Volume up + Volume down + Power Keys for a while. Some text and Start will appear on the screen when your device enters the reboot mode.
- Now navigate to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory and open the Command Prompt. Type the following command and press enter.
fastboot oem unlock
- Now just simply follow the instructions on the screen of your device. Confirm the Bootloader Unlocking and erase all the data.
- After following all the instructions, your Nexus 5 will reboot itself. If not, you can reboot your Nexus 5 by entering the following command in the Command Prompt.
fastboot reboot
