What’s so special?

Y.A.R is basically a reminder application. But then what’s different in this another reminder app from other tonnes of similar applications in the market. Minimalist look of the app is the first reason. Also, it is light on RAM of your device and hence consumes less power. Lastly, you have the ability to set location based reminders which is kind of awesome. Imagine yourself passing by the supermarket and your phone buzzes up to remind you of buying salt.

How do reminders work in Y.A.R.?

Y.A.R. is developed by an Indian Android App developer named Rakshak Raghavan. If you want to see his other apps then you can follow this  it will take you to Play Store straight, where you will find Yet Another Notepad which we reviewed recently. Coming to the topic in Indian Slang we also call friends as “Yaar”. This app also acts as a companion for you.

When you will first open the app you will see a blank off white screen where at its bottom there are two buttons which say “New Timed Reminder” and “New Location Reminder” and it is pretty obvious that if you want to set a simple timed alarm then click on first but if you want to set a real location based alarm then click on second one.

Setting up Timed Reminder

After clicking on first option you will see the window like at left side. Write the topic for which you want to set the reminder, select the time and click on next. Now you will see two options one is “Set Reminder” if you click on that Reminder will be activated simple as that. While if you click on other option which is “Persistence for reminders” it will turn off reminder every day at that time.

Setting up location based Reminder

Now if you have clicked on second option then you are going to set up a location based reminder such as:

• Wake you up when you reach your bus stop or train station in case you fall asleep on you way back home from work (or if you are too engrossed in your book)
• Reminder to collect cash from the ATM when you walk or drive past it.
• Reminder to take your umbrella or coat when you leave the restaurant.
• Reminder to take important documents when you leave for a meeting.

Here also you will see a similar type of screen. Write the motive of your reminder then choose the location where you want it to set it. Click on next then there you will see the same option “Set Reminder” and “Persistence for reminders” and you know well what to do with them.

What did I like:

Since it is a review we will surely tell what we like and what we don’t.

• Minimalist look
• No settings or extra things
• Location based  reminders are great

What did I didn’t like:

• You can’t always believe location tracking
• Sometimes I wasn’t able to get location

What I want in next update:

• If we could sync our Google calendar or even stock reminder then it would have been a lot easy.
