Has technology taken over the world? We certainly think so. Look around you. High in the streets, billboards aren’t paper anymore, they’re electronic. Think about where you get your news from. You don’t bother with the TV or radio, it’s all the internet. You’ll get important news updates to your phone if you have the right app, Or, what about how we interact, socially. We don’t meet up for coffee anymore, we talk across social networks. Scientists claim that this isn’t having an impact on our ability to socialise. But there is no denying that the way we interact with one another has changed. That’s society as a whole but if we narrow it down to the business world, it’s no different. [Read more…]

The Standard Seven: Critical Requirements of Embedded Systems Design
Embedded systems are contained in just about every electrical item in existence, and unless they break down most people are unaware of their presence. Embedded computer systems differ from general systems in that they are designed to perform a single task and are only ever intended for one specific purpose. They can be utilised for the most basic of tasks such as a 4-bit processor in a digital watch, or they can be used for the advancement of mankind as a component in a complex system such as the Mars Rover. When designing an embedded system there are seven requirements which must be considered by the user, and this article examines each one in detail.
Processing Power
Most embedded systems are built with 4-, 8-, and 16-bit processors, and you will have to decide which one is most suitable for the task you wish to perform. The standard way to compare processing power is by millions of instructions per second (MIPS), and a higher rating indicates a more powerful processor.
Memory
The amount of memory required to run your software will also have an effect on which processor you choose. A 16-bit processor can support a maximum of 65KB of RAM, whereas an 8-bit processor can address only 256 bytes.
Number of Units
How many units you require for your system will depend on the task you wish to accomplish. Your network may consist of a just one single board computer or hundreds of different components. You will also need to take into account the amount of space you have available, your budget and amount of RAM needed to run your software.
Power Consumption
Power consumption is extremely important when it comes to portable devices, and the standard measurement system for power consumption is milliwatts per MIPS (mW/MIPS). Devices that require less power are usually smaller, simpler and generate less heat.
Development Cost
This applies mainly to the manufacturer but also affects the consumer as a high development cost will result in a more expensive end product. The cost of developing hardware and software can be extremely high, but it is usually a one-time cost and is known as a ‘nonrecurring design engineering’ (NRE) charge.
Lifetime
How long does the system have to last before it has to be replaced? If you plan on upgrading your system regularly, then longevity may not be a factor in your decision, but if you only plan on purchasing your hardware once you will need to find a system that will stand the test of time.
Reliability
How reliable your system needs to be will depend on the duty it has to perform. Embedded systems in anti-lock brakes must work 100% of the time, but a system for an electrical gadget used for entertainment purposes may not have to be so reliable.
Designing an embedded system can be a complicated process, but as long as you satisfy all the predicted requirements in the planning stages your finished system will function without any issues whatsoever. Once set up, embedded systems will perform their task without the need for much prompting, so it is worthwhile investing a good deal of time in choosing the right components for the job.

Storing Your Gadgets Properly
Your electronic gadgets need proper care if you want to take advantage of their full potential. They deserve proper maintenance when in use and require proper storage when they are not in use. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of how to properly store their unused gadgets. This can lead to reduced quality, reduced efficacy, and reduced lifespan. All of these things lead to you spending more money on repairs and new purchases, so it’s not hard to see why it’s imperative that you learn to properly store your gadgets. So, how exactly can you do this? Here’s a guide to properly storing your unused electronics:
Clean Your Gadgets
Before you store your gadgets away in a safe place, make sure that they are clean. You want them to be free of dust and lint because these things will only cause damage when in contact with your electronics for long periods of time. Generally speaking, you should have your electronics looking like they’re ready to sell when you store them; this will help them retain their quality while stored.
Unplug Everything
A lot can happen in the process of putting your gadgets in and out of storage. It’s imperative that you unplug everything from your electronics; cords, cables, accessories, etc., should all be unplugged to reduce the odds of damage during the process.
Properly Pack Items
You can’t simply leave your gadgets somewhere in storage; they will be exposed to the elements (such as lint and dust) and could be damaged by other items that are being moved. Instead, you want to secure them in safe packaging like they were in when you bought them. Wrap your electronics in towels or bubble wrap and place them in cardboard boxes that are not too big. Then, fill in that extra space with bubble wrap, packaging pillows, or packaging peanuts. If you treat your gadgets like they’re going to be shipped, then they’ll stay in fine shape while they’re in storage.
Where to Store Your Gadgets
There are two main choices for where you should store your electronics:
At home: If you elect to store your gadgets at home, it is absolutely essential that you have a room with the right humidity. Gadgets should be stored in areas that are dry and relatively low in humidity. Ideally, you should also store them where they are safe in the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster. Many people store their electronics in attics or basements, but this is usually a bad idea. Not only do those places usually have poor temperature control, they also are subject to leaks and other environmental issues. Instead, elect for a closet or a specifically designed storage room.
In a storage unit: This is the safest way to store your gadgets. Many people fear that their electronics will not be safe in storage units, but most units are designed with temperature control in mind. Thankfully, there are many great storage units in Philadelphia that are ideal for storing your gadgets in and won’t break the bank.
With these tips you now know how to properly store your unused gadgets so they will be ready and working properly when you need them next.
How to schedule your computer for auto shut down
The guide we gave in previous article was to shut down your computer after torrent download completes. But this method is pretty different here we will use software named shutdown timer which you can download from here.
This will help you to save a lot of electricity too. So I better recommend you to use it. All you need to do is set the time after which you want your system to shut down and it just do all the process.
