Set Time Location Based Reminders With Yet Another Reminder [Review]

Well, have you ever forgot to pick vegetables while coming home? Have you ever forgotten to get cash from ATM while going to a really important work? Or are you too busy, that you forget what things you need to buy? If your answer to any one of the above question is in positive then this Yet Another Reminder (Y.A.R.) is for you.
Yet another Reminder

What’s so special?

Y.A.R is basically a reminder application. But then what’s different in this another reminder app from other tonnes of similar applications in the market. Minimalist look of the app is the first reason. Also, it is light on RAM of your device and hence consumes less power. Lastly, you have the ability to set location based reminders which is kind of awesome. Imagine yourself passing by the supermarket and your phone buzzes up to remind you of buying salt.

How do reminders work in Y.A.R.?

Y.A.R. is developed by an Indian Android App developer named Rakshak Raghavan. If you want to see his other apps then you can follow this  it will take you to Play Store straight, where you will find Yet Another Notepad which we reviewed recently. Coming to the topic in Indian Slang we also call friends as “Yaar”. This app also acts as a companion for you.

When you will first open the app you will see a blank off white screen where at its bottom there are two buttons which say “New Timed Reminder” and “New Location Reminder” and it is pretty obvious that if you want to set a simple timed alarm then click on first but if you want to set a real location based alarm then click on second one.

Setting up Timed Reminder

After clicking on first option you will see the window like at left side. Write the topic for which you want to set the reminder, select the time and click on next. Now you will see two options one is “Set Reminder” if you click on that Reminder will be activated simple as that. While if you click on other option which is “Persistence for reminders” it will turn off reminder every day at that time.

Yet another Reminder

Setting up location based Reminder

Now if you have clicked on second option then you are going to set up a location based reminder such as:

  • Wake you up when you reach your bus stop or train station in case you fall asleep on you way back home from work (or if you are too engrossed in your book)
  • Reminder to collect cash from the ATM when you walk or drive past it.
  • Reminder to take your umbrella or coat when you leave the restaurant.
  • Reminder to take important documents when you leave for a meeting.

Here also you will see a similar type of screen. Write the motive of your reminder then choose the location where you want it to set it. Click on next then there you will see the same option “Set Reminder” and “Persistence for reminders” and you know well what to do with them.

Yet another Reminder

Download Y.A.R.

Download the app from . This apps costs about $1 and is totally worth for it

What did I like:

Since it is a review we will surely tell what we like and what we don’t.

  • Minimalist look
  • No settings or extra things
  • Location based  reminders are great

What did I didn’t like:

  • You can’t always believe location tracking
  • Sometimes I wasn’t able to get location

What I want in next update:

  • If we could sync our Google calendar or even stock reminder then it would have been a lot easy.

Now it’s your time to tell what you feel about the app? Do tell us in comments below.

NVIDIA’s Tegra Note 7: A Great Gaming Device For $200

NVIDIA Tegra Note 7

NVIDIA has recently surprised us by unveiling its very own tablet with Tegra 4 inside. Finding a good tablet is nothing difficult nowadays but finding an affordable one with good specs can be difficult. Google’s Nexus 7 has been doing a good job as a $200 tablet so far but now NVIDIA is ready to compete with the $200 tablet with its Tegra Note 7.  We saw Tegra 4 in a handheld gaming console called “Shield” before but now it’s time to see how NVIDIA presented the Tegra 4 in its own device.

Nexus 7 alternative

Hardware

The Tegra Note 7 doesn’t look attractive comparing to the Google Nexus 7. The front looks too plain while the back looks busy because of its three-segmented look. There are total 6 open places, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-HDMI port, micro-USB port, a holder for optional smart cover and the stylus holder.  The colors look washed out when you compare it with the sharp display of Google’s 7-inch tablet.

7-inch tablets are currently ruling the market and NVIDIA is now ready to be a part of this market with its 7-inch Tegra Note 7 that features 1280×800 IPS LCD Display. The tablet includes a quad-core Tegra 4 chipset as mentioned before blocked at a single core clock of 1.8GHz. The tablet took advantage of the latest NVIDIA tech called DirectStylus and comes with a Stylus unlike the Google Nexus 7. Moreover, the tablet weighs 320g which is huge comparing to other 7-inch tablets. The Tegra Note 7 is wider and thicker than the Nexus and is heavy too. However, NVIDIA wanted to focus more on the gaming part so let’s see if they managed to do so by making it less elegant or not.

Nexus 7 alternative

Software

The NVIDIA tablet comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 out-of-the-box and also promises to release Android 4.3 update next month. When users take out the Stylus, they will see two new apps, a drawing app or a note-taking app. The best part of this stylus mode is its human touch disabling feature. You can disable human touch when drawing so that your touch doesn’t ruin your drawings.

The tablet is also preloaded with apps from the maker itself and a special camera app aside from the Stylus apps. The Google KitKat update (4.4) is also on the way so its great news for Android lovers as lots of existing Android devices won’t receive a KitKat upgrade. Other notable features are 5-megapixel rear camera, 0.3 megapixel front camera, 1080p video capture support, 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

Performance

As mentioned earlier, NVIDIA tried to focus more on the gaming part and it really shows when you spend some time with the Tegra Note 7. The high-end Tegra 4 chip with 1.8GHz Cortex-A15 cores manage to handle apps and games faster than the Nexus 7. You will notice the difference when loading apps and performing your usual tasks. Its battery life is also not bad. You can expect to play games for 4-5 hours, watch standard videos for minimum 9 hours and expect to pass 2-3 days without charging if you don’t use your tablet every now and then.

The stereo speakers on top of the device works perfectly when watching movies or playing games. It’s not good enough to give better performance in noisy environments but there are always headphones to help you in such places.

Overall, if you are looking for a good tablet to play games or if you look at the device hardware-wise, it’s good. If you are ready to overlook the cheap build quality, you can give the Tegra Note 7 a try.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z is yet another best selling tablet. There are plenty of reasons for us to choose Xperia Tablet Z as one stop destination and all time favorite device. For example, the charming and beautiful look with simple black rectangle, scratch-resistanct glass, waterproof body (but it does not mean you should throw it into a river to check the capacity) and high profile features. The price of this tablet is also within the range of budget-conscious people.

Android Tablets

Wrapping this up, I must say that there are plenty of tablets which have doubtlessly been all time favorite but the ones I mentioned above have definitely been able to break the sales records in all big markets. If you are looking for rather cheap tablets, check out the best tabs under $200.

MakeMyBrowser

What are the browsers that you use most frequently? Let me guess, Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari and may be some other. What if you can have a web browser completely personalized to your own test, even with your photo as its logo?

MakeMyBrowser, as the names suggests, is a web tool that lets you create a web browser based on Chromium project for FREE. If you did not know it already, Chromium is an Open Source project on which several popular web browsers have been built, Google Chrome is one of the many. MakeMyBrowser leverages the Chromium project to let you create your very own personalized web browser that is fully capable as any other web browser.

Features of MakeMyBroswer:

Before proceeding to see the features of MakeMyBrowser, let me inform you that MakeMyBrowser is in early phases and many more features will be introduced in near future. At present these are the salient features:

  • Create a web browser with a personalized logo
  • Add bookmarks in it that will be available to anyone who downloads and uses the broswer
  • Select the default skin of the browser
  • Select the homepage of the broswer
  • Edit the browser at any time by logging in to MakeMyBrowser. The last edit will be available for download.
  • Get a personalized URL as the download link for the browser
  • Get embedded code to promote the browser on your website
  • Create as many browsers as you like
  • Based on Chromium so you can sync it with your Google Account

Using MakeMyBroswer to create a browser:

Creating a browser with MakeMyBrowser is really simple and is done in 3 easy steps. Of course you have to create an account and log in so that you can edit the browser later.

Step 1: Select a name and logo

First thing first, name your web browser. You can even edit the name of the browser later on. And then select an image as the logo of the browser. This image will be used as the icon on the desktop. Though there is no restriction on image size and dimension, it will be better to choose a square image. You can also change the logo any time you want.

Review MakeMyBrowser

Step 2: Select bookmarks

Now, to personalize the browser a little bit more, select your favorite bookmarks here. Some bookmarks are added by default such as Gmail, Facebook, Amazon etc. You can choose to keep them or remove them. You can also choose the default homepage of your browser. By default it is set to . If you are a blogger and run a website, it is an excellent way to increase the traffic by putting your own website as homepage.

Make your own browser with MakeMyBrowser

Step 3: Choose a skin/theme

Apart from the default Chromium theme there are few more skins available for you. You can choose the one you like. Personally, I feel there should be more skins available for users. I have conveyed my concerns to MakeMyBrowser team and they informed me that in near future, more skins will be available. Once you are done click on finish and download to create the browser. Easy no?

MakeMyBrowser

You will have a dedicated webpage for your browser on MakeMyBrowser server from where one can download the browser any time. As I mentioned earlier, you can change every aspect of your browser at any time. There are no restrictions on number of edits.

Future improvement and suggestions:

Since MakeMyBrowser is in early phases, it has a lot to grow upon. There are few features which I found missing or I would rather love to have. Since its for free to anyone, I would suggest them to have a premium version and offer few exclusive features in it. These features could be used by organizations, institutes and websites.
