Dell Unveils New Venue Tablets Featuring Windows 8.1

Dell has recently released two tablets by reviving its Venue brand, the Dell Venue 8 Pro and the Venue 11 Pro. Acer and Toshiba are still working on their Windows 8 tablet so the Dell tablets are here with a very little competition. The company was working on XPS 10 tablet but dropped it quietly so let’s see what it has to offer this time with these new designs and Intel chipset based tablet.

Dell Venue 8 Pro

The new 8-inch Dell tablet comes with 720p, 1280×800 IPS screen and looks like one of those devices that you badly want for yourself. The tablet offers good color balance and pixel density from different viewing angles which is nice comparing to other similar tablets. The most attractive part of this tablet is the new Windows 8.1 “Core” and the new Intel chipset called “Bay Trail”. The Venue 8 Pro weighs only 0.9 pound and is 0.35 inch thick.

Other notable features of the tablet are – 5megapixel back camera, 1.2 megapixel front camera, 2GB RAM, Micro USB charging support, full-size SD card slot and, an optional keyboard and 10 hours battery life. It looks and feels like an Android tablet even if it comes with Windows 8.1 and the best part is, you get a Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 free with the tablet.

The Windows button is placed on the top of the tablet and it can be difficult to get used to it for a while. There is also a Dell Active Stylus available as an optional accessory like the keyboard. However, the best thing about this tablet is its price. The starting price of this “Bay Trail” based tablet is only $299 (32GB Storage). You can order one for you on October 18.

Dell Venue Pro 11

venue 11 pro dell

Dell’s Venue Pro 11 features an almost 11-inch screen (10.8-inch) like its name suggests. The tablet features a full HD screen with 1920×1080 IPS display, a detachable keyboard like the Venue 8 Pro and some other optional accessories like Tablet Desktop Dock and Mobile keyboard with integrated battery. The “Haswell” based tablet also comes with a Dell Active Stylus, Intel Atom Quad-core Bay Trail or Haswell processor up to Core i5 with support of up to 8GB RAM, WiFi, full size USB port, microSD card slot, HDMI slot, 265GB storage and NFC. It’s similar to the Surface Pro 2 but comes with an easy to handle design.

Unlike the small Venue 8 Pro, the big version features matte-textured rear which is really bad for fingerprints. However, the battery is removable which is a relief. Even though the features of Dell Venue Pro 11 have some similar feature comparing to the Surface Pro 2, there is a huge difference in their price tags. Microsoft’s Surface Pro 2 is available for $899 whereas the new tablet by Dell will be available for only $499. It is expected to start shipping in November. Even if you are not interested to buy the $500 one, you can definitely think about trying the Venue 8 Pro which will be available for only $299.

Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Note 3: Features Bigger Screen And Improved S-Pen

galaxy note 3 specs

Samsung has finally unveiled the second sequel of the one of biggest brands of the company, The Galaxy Note 3. The company revealed the original phablet, the Galaxy Note, two years ago in the same place which is now a very popular lineup. The new smartphone features a bigger 5.7-inch screen as expected with a more utilized and enhanced S-Pen. The bezels of the latest phone are slimmer than the previous notes and come with rounded edges to make it look sleek and stylish. Let’s see what the latest phone has to offer.

Features

The Galaxy Note 3 offers a larger screen with SuperAMOLED 1080p display and an even bigger battery to make sure you get to play with it for a long time. When the first phone came out back in 2011, a phone with 5.3-inch screen seemed funny. However, times have changed since then and a big 6-inch screen phone is nothing nowadays. The users get 386ppi in the screen which is a lot more than the previous two phablets. The third Note is 1.3mm narrower, 1.1mm thinner and slightly taller than the Galaxy Note 2. It’s nice to see how the company managed to trim down the size while giving it a larger display.

Galaxy Note 3 images

One of the biggest changes we noticed while looking at the phone is its back side. The back cover is now showing a leather finish instead of glossy plastic and it feels way more comfortable to hold it now. Moreover, you don’t have to worry about fingerprints now. The Galaxy Note 3 will be available in two different models, one will feature a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset and the other one will feature a 1.9GHz Exynos Octa-core SoC.

Both the models will feature Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, 3GB of RAM, 13-megapixel real camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, optional 32GB or 64GB storage, MicroSDXC card storage expansion, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11ac, LTE Cat4 and IR LED. The rear camera supports capturing UHD and full HD videos.

galaxy note 3 specs

Software

It looks like Samsung didn’t try to offer new features here but mostly focused on improving the existing features to make things easier for users. The area where we saw some great changes was the S-Pen area which is the main attraction of Galaxy Note lineup. When you pull out the S-Pen from the device, it opens a semi-circular menu using a new feature called Air Command. The menu shows Action Memo, S Finder, Screen Write, Scrapbook and Pen Window.

The Multi-Window feature is also improved in the latest Note and users can now save app combinations in the Multi-Window bar to get quick access. A new drag-and-drop function supports dragging pictures, videos and other items to the other window you are running using Multi-Window. It’s a great way to share things easily.

Specifications

New Crowdfunding Campaign To Build A Statue of Steve Jobs

Fans are crazy. Apple fanboys are crazy. We all must have experienced the nuisance of Apple fanboys at sometime or other. Their devotion towards Apple product will drive you crazy. They will fight (mostly verbally, I hope :P) with you if you say anything against Apple be it Apple Samsung patent war or USB port issue in Apple products. There are also those kind of Apple fanboys who have never used a single Apple product in all their life but they will still support Apple for reasons known to them only.

While Ashton Kutcher starrer Steve Jobs biopic has just been released, a new crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo has surfaced with the goal to make a statue of Steve Jobs. And it is no ordinary statue but rather a Steve Jobs statue bigger than Statue of liberty, no kidding. The aim of the project is to raise $50,000 for this project.

New indiegogo campaign to build a statue of Steve Jobs bigger than Statue of liberty

A contributor can put up anything from $1 to $1995 for various perks such as name on the website, Steve Jobs picture, T-Shirt to invitation to the even and name on the plaque of statute. Despite of a perk as low as $1, the campaign does not seem to be a success. By the time this article was written not even $500 were pitched in. But since the campaign is to run 57 more days and considering the huge number of Apple (and thus Steve Jobs) lover, this target could be achieved. I mean we know that how happily Mac users shell out money for trivial things.

What you think of this campaign? Will Apple fanboys be able to build a statue of Steve Jobs bigger than Statue of Liberty?

Nexus 5 (LG G2) : Specs, Release Date, Leaked Images and Rumors

LG is currently working on their next flagship device titled as G2 and rumor has it that this flagship device is going to be the next Nexus device, the Nexus 5. The company has recently confirmed that they are going to drop the Optimus title from the phone and it will be called LG G2. Let’s see what the first smartphone from “G” family has to offer. We don’t have any official details yet so we are going to have to depend on the rumors and leaks for specs and other info.

Nexus 5 Specifications

Google Nexus 5

According to the announcement,s leaked specs and images the LG G2 is going to feature a big 5.2-inch FullHD display with about 423 ppi, a 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait 800 processor(confirmed), 13 megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, LTE radio, dual-speakers and a big 2,540mAh battery. The 800 Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset is currently the most powerful mobile chipset available now and was unveiled at the CES 2013.

nexus 5 images

We heard earlier that the device will feature 3GB of RAM and Google Android Key Lime Pie but now the latest rumor’s say that the device will feature 2GB of RAM instead of 3GB and will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. But don’t worry as the Jelly Bean 4.3 could be ready by that time and will also receive the Key Lime Pie update soon if not out of the box.

The 13-megapixel camera is expected to feature optical image stabilization, face detection, HDR, full HD video recording and the 360 panorama mode.

Design

nexus 5 unveiled

The Big LG G2 is expect to come up with the latest Zero Gap tech which means less bezel and more space for screen. However, if the leaked pic’s by are real, there won’t be a button on the front of the phone and users have to depend on the on-screen buttons. The volume rocker keys are repositioned in the back of the device to make the phone look key-less. The latest flagship device from LG will be bigger than the Samsung Galaxy S4 and will be also loaded with the most powerful mobile chipset currently available.

Both LG and Google are silent about this matter so we are depending on @evleaks’s leaked pictures which looks quite real.  The internal storage of this smartphone is still a mystery and there won’t be any microSD support.

Release Date And Price

We are expecting to see the device on August 7’s press event in NYC. LG is planning something big for August 7 and we believe it’s going to be their next flagship device. However, Google’s 5th birthday is coming in this October so there’s a chance that Google will launch their next Nexus device this October.

The price of the new Nexus 5 is expected to reamin unchanged: $299 and $349 for 16GB and 32GB model respectively. That’s all we have got about the LG G2 (the rumored Google Nexus 5 device) so far. Feel free to share your thoughts and expectations for the upcoming google device in the comments section below.
