At this time we all do have computers and internet connections. We know are in generation of 4G LTE generation where internet speeds are insane but still it is available in some part of the world only. Most part of the world is still at lower speeds. As we know Microsoft released Windows 8.1 which you can update by following these simple steps. I also tried this but my internet speed is 1MBPS and if I download update then it will take continuous 3 days to download that 3.67GB so we all prefer to use Torrents.

Using torrent is simple and easy but we can’t just sit beside system and wait for the file to be downloaded so that we can turn the computer off. Wouldn’t it be great if your computer automatically shutdown when the torrent finishes the download? So today I am going to tell you all a simple guide so that you can shutdown your system automatically after torrent download completes.

Go to Torrents app
Download a torrent and set it for download

Now head over to Options, then Auto Shutdown option
Now we have various options to choose you can hibernate, reboot, shutdown and even put your system to standby after download completes. Select the one which is suitable for you. In this case I am selecting Shutdown option.
And its done.

At times small things bother big times for example taking screenshot in Galaxy S2. This happened with my new Google Nexus 7 2013 which comes with dual camera, 5 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front camera. By default, the rear (primary) camera is used when you open the camera application. Problem arose when I tried to use the front camera. Now, this could be embarrassing a little as despite of being such a petty stuff, it took me few frustrating moments to figure it out.

Since it took some time for me to figure out how to use front camera in Google Nexus 7 2013 I bet some of you might face this problem as well and this why I am writing this quick tip to show you how to use the secondary camera in Google Nexus.

Using the front camera is really simple. I mean the option is there all the time. You just have to look for it. any ways, follow the simple steps below:

Touch on the screen to bring the options.
You will see two options around the big blue circle. One for changing the camera mode between still and video and the other to provide you more options.
When you touch it, you’ll provide with a new set of options in the middle of the screen. Basically, it gives the option to change the exposure and the option to change the camera. Just touch the camera option to use the front camera or to change it back to use the rear camera.

Permanently Change Window Scrollback Size Of Putty [Quick Tip]

Putty is a free and open source terminal emulator and probably the best client for SSH in Windows. The one little irritating problem I face while using Putty is the number of lines in the window. The default windows size of Putty is 200 lines. Which means, you cannot see just 200 lines by scrolling back. And these 200 lines are not at all sufficient for programs that have huge logs.

More often than not, I need to see more than 200 lines back in the logs while working. For this purpose, I change the window scrollback size to 20,000 or 50,000. But if you do this, you have to do it every time you use Putty which is not very convenient. Would it not be great if you could permanently change the window scrollback size of Putty so that you won’t have to change it every time?

In this quick tip, I’ll show you how to permanently change the window scroll size of Putty.

I don’t need to tell you that you must have Putty installed beforehand. Follow the steps below to change Putty window size:

Open Putty. No need to log in to any session.
From the left sidebar, choose Window. In the right pane, see the option of Lines of scrollback. Change it to a value of your choice.
Now, the number of lines in Putty have been increased to 20,000. The next step is to make this change permanent. Choose Session from the left sidebar. Now, from the right pane, click on Default Settings and click on Save.

We are almost towards the end of another year and 2014 is just a couple months away. We have seen technology developing very fast in past few years. There are huge advancements in mobile phone sector. But still many of us prefer to stay with old methods. But now time has changed. I am talking about how you upload and save your photos and videos. Let me guess you may be saving it to your computer’s hard drive by transferring it via USB cable or you may be using some wireless transfer apps like AirDroid for Android phones and more for other.

But these methods are also old now. Because your PC’s hard drive may crash some day or you are out of country or town and you need that stuff immediately. You need not to worry we have solution for that too.

Now a days many companies have launched various auto syncing applications which upload your videos and photos to their online servers to which only you have access unless you have given permission to anyone. These applications allows you to access your data from anywhere in the world. All they need is internet connection. Google Plus is one of them which offer this service. Follow the steps below to enable the same for you.

STEP1:

Open your Google Plus application and then tap on settings option.

Then you will the window as shown below. In General settings there is sub heading named “Auto-Backup” click on that. But before that read the description written below that enabling this will automatically backup your photos and videos to Google Plus profile. These backups are for your eyes only.

Note: Keep one thing in mind that enabling Auto Backup will enable use of Mobile data even which may incur charges.

STEP3:

Turn that off button to on to enable auto backup of the data. Then choose the account to which you want to upload the photos and videos (This is for those who have more than one accounts.)

STEP4:

Below you will see your available storage. You can buy more if you run out of the space. In backup settings you can even select when to upload photos or videos. This will help to save your Mobile Network Data. You can also select whether to upload stuff on roaming or not.

As we all know that uploading will use up your battery juice then you even have option for that whether you want to upload stuff when your device is charging.

STEP5:

If you have not backup your photos and videos earlier then there is option to back up all the data which is present in your device instantly.

How to Create a Keyboard Shortcut to Programs on Windows

Of course there is no problem in launching a program in Windows Computer by Double Clicking on the Program icon. You can just avoid looking for your favorite application in your drives and Start Menu Programs by creating a shortcut icon on desktop. But what about using the Keyboard to launch the program? Now Of course there’s no point in using keyboard over mouse, but you’ll have to, during the time when you have a damaged or not working mouse.

Now, we know that operating a computer using keyboard is quite difficult, which is on the other hand very easy using mouse. You’ll have to use Tab and Arrow buttons to toggle between desktop icons, Task bar and other options. But this problem can be eliminated by creating a unique Keyboard Shortcut for some different Programs and Applications. You can just use these keyboard shortcuts and can avoid pressing various other buttons. So in this article, we’ll learn to create Keyboard Shortcut to Programs in Windows.

Right Click on the program and open “Properties”.
Choose the “Shortcut” Tab. Under “Shortcut” Tab, you’ll find a “Shortcut Key” option.
Write the desired shortcut letter for the program in the blank space. Like I’m using “C” for Google Chrome.
Note: You only have to write the particular letter in the blank space, instead of writing the whole “Ctrl + Alt +” combination. The combination will be entered automatically when you’ll type the letter.
Click “OK”.

Now you’re done. You can just use these keyboard shortcuts to launch your favorite programs and applications quickly using keyboard instead of searching for them in drives and Start Menu Programs. But this solution is useful only when you wish to have keyboard shortcuts for few programs. Using Keyboard Shortcuts for lots of programs will be messy and will cause confusion. In this article I’m talking about the media files (like images, audio and videos). Whenever we receive any media file via whatsapp, it either starts downloading automatically or in some cases you’ll have to download those media file manually. Keeping in mind that some people prefer manual downloading of media files and some prefer automatic, whatsapp had provided us options to customize auto download of media files.

Go to Media Auto Download:

Launch the Whatsapp application, press the Menu button and tap on “Settings”. Now Go to “Chat Settings” and then Tap on “Media auto-download”.

Customize Media Auto-Download:

In Media auto-download, there’ll be three options and under these options you can select which type of file you want to set for auto-download.

When using mobile data:

The selected media will be downloaded under your service provider’s data plan. If you have no activated data plan, then this can lead to data charges while downloading the media.

When connected on Wi-Fi:

The selected media will be downloaded when the device is connected to a Wi-Fi connection.

When Roaming:

This option allows you to select that which type of media you want the auto-download when you’re under roaming.

It is important to note that you cannot customize the voice messages. They will always be automatically downloaded. Since the Google has updated his Google Plus integration it has become pretty easy to do that. I think earlier it was not even possible to do that. All you need is a YouTube account, email address to which you want to transfer the ownership of YouTube account and a Google Plus Page. Requirement:

It is mandatory that your YouTube account should be linked with Google Plus page. If your YouTube account is not linked with Google Plus Page, then follow this tutorial on how to allow multiple users to a YouTube account.

Once you have the requirements, follow the steps below:

Now, to link another email address, go to the managers tab of the Google Plus page linked to the original YouTube account. Then click on Add Managers.

Type the email address which you want to connect.
Accept the invitation and then wait for 14 days.
After 14 days go to the Managers tab and click on transfer ownership and select the manager to which you want to link your YouTube account.

Delete the previous manager and now YouTube account will automatically be linked to new email address.
