Verdict:

Coming to the final verdict, I think it is one of the beautifully made Bluetooth case with in case battery backup but it doesn’t holds up its main purpose well for which it is made i.e. typing, as it is really hard to type a whole essay on it. But it all depends on how much you type so take that point into mind.

What’s so special?

Y.A.R is basically a reminder application. But then what’s different in this another reminder app from other tonnes of similar applications in the market. Minimalist look of the app is the first reason. Also, it is light on RAM of your device and hence consumes less power. Lastly, you have the ability to set location based reminders which is kind of awesome. Imagine yourself passing by the supermarket and your phone buzzes up to remind you of buying salt.

How do reminders work in Y.A.R.?

Y.A.R. is developed by an Indian Android App developer named Rakshak Raghavan. If you want to see his other apps then you can follow this  it will take you to Play Store straight, where you will find Yet Another Notepad which we reviewed recently. Coming to the topic in Indian Slang we also call friends as “Yaar”. This app also acts as a companion for you.

When you will first open the app you will see a blank off white screen where at its bottom there are two buttons which say “New Timed Reminder” and “New Location Reminder” and it is pretty obvious that if you want to set a simple timed alarm then click on first but if you want to set a real location based alarm then click on second one.

After clicking on first option you will see the window like at left side. Write the topic for which you want to set the reminder, select the time and click on next. Now you will see two options one is “Set Reminder” if you click on that Reminder will be activated simple as that. While if you click on other option which is “Persistence for reminders” it will turn off reminder every day at that time.

Now if you have clicked on second option then you are going to set up a location based reminder such as:

  • Wake you up when you reach your bus stop or train station in case you fall asleep on you way back home from work (or if you are too engrossed in your book)
  • Reminder to collect cash from the ATM when you walk or drive past it.
  • Reminder to take your umbrella or coat when you leave the restaurant.
  • Reminder to take important documents when you leave for a meeting.

Here also you will see a similar type of screen. Write the motive of your reminder then choose the location where you want it to set it. Click on next then there you will see the same option “Set Reminder” and “Persistence for reminders” and you know well what to do with them.

What did I like:

What really amazed me was the same feature was present in the free antivirus as well.

The day I installed this software, I found it to be equally efficient while using Facebook, Twitter and Linked-in profiles. It protected my computer from potentially dangerous and spammy links, thus thanks to BitDefender, my privacy was maintained.

In case someone sends you suspicious URLs via social media platforms, BitDefender’s automatic scan initiates its working and blocks the URL in no time.

Difficulty in Installation:

Although the Bitdefender Internet Security is overall a nice antivirus software, it still comes with some drawbacks. The one drawback I observed was its pre-install scan problem. When I tried to install this software to check on its efficiency, I found that the installation took way too much time. It almost took two to three hours, and by the time it was finished, I had almost given up. But eventually, I managed to install it. The next problem was the improper scan, which damaged many of my critical files suspecting them to be infected. I have a habit of collecting logs for tech support and running fix-scripts on my system. I found that Bitdefender was again taking too much time in scanning those heavy files, but it eventually did it.

Summing this up, I would like to brief the pros and cons of Bitdefender.

Pros:

  • Reliable scores at independent lab tests.
  • Ensure great phishing protection.
  • Prevention of private data transmission.
  • ID theft monitoring.

You will have a dedicated webpage for your browser on MakeMyBrowser server from where one can download the browser any time. As I mentioned earlier, you can change every aspect of your browser at any time. There are no restrictions on number of edits.

Future improvement and suggestions:

Since MakeMyBrowser is in early phases, it has a lot to grow upon. There are few features which I found missing or I would rather love to have. Since its for free to anyone, I would suggest them to have a premium version and offer few exclusive features in it. These features could be used by organizations, institutes and websites.

  • Add options to include plugins as well in the browser and not just bookmarks.
  • The page from where the browser can be downloaded is very generic. It should be customizable by the client.
  • Ability to provide “on air updates” to the browser. When there are modifications to the browser, users will have to download and install it again. It could be great to have it updated from within the browser itself.
  • Cross platform installation. Currently it can be installed only on Windows. Adding Linux and Mac would be make it a complete browser.

Over all, it is really an innovative tool that with some additional features can be used by blogs, schools, universities, organizations and cyber cafe. This does not mean as an individual you cannot try it. Have some fun with your family and friends and have them amazed by your own web browser.

Today I was just checking the Play Store for some new apps and luckily I found this cool app “AwwPics”. AwwPics is a new app in the Play Store like the title says a Picbook for your Facebook. This app is all about the pictures and their likes.  It’s like the newest way to explore the Facebook pictures and really won’t let you miss any cool one. Explore the coolest pictures of your friends, edit your photos amazingly and see the likes coming.

    Explore all the cool and amazing pictures of your friends from the “Explore” option at the top of the app. You can see the pictures as little thumbnails which can be sorted differently. You can sort the pictures of your friends according to Popularity and Trending. Someone like me who really like to comment on pictures is not going to be satisfied with this app.
