BlackBerry, earlier known as RIM, has announced its long awaited and much-leaked next generation mobile operating system, BlackBerry 10 recently with two new devices, the Q10 and the Z10. With this new mobile OS, BlackBerry is finally ready to compete with Android and iOS. Here are the 10 new features in BlackBerry 10 OS.
BlackBerry Flow
Flow is a new multi-tasking feature in BlackBerry that allows you to switch between multiple apps easily without exiting any of them. If you receive an SMS when watching a video, just return to your home screen and see the message without closing the video. It’s nothing new for Android and iOS users but it’s surely a great feature for multi-task lovers.
BlackBerry Hub
This is a place where you can check all your e-mail, social networking account updates, BBM messages and other notifications in one place. You can also check your calendar events and appointments from this Hub. Just swipe your finger horizontally on the screen to access to the Hub using the Flow feature. You can access to the Hub from any screen.
BBM (BlackBerry Messenger)
BlackBerry’s flagship IM service BBM users can now rejoice as the service is finally packed with video chat and voice calling feature. Users can also share their screen with another BB 10 user using BBM.
BlackBerry Balance
BlackBerry Balance is a feature designed for its enterprise users that allows you to store your personal and corporate information separately. Now you have the option to separate your work applications and corporate data from your personal content and keep them safe and secure.
Time Shift
Time Shift is a new camera feature that allow users to capture the exact shot they wanted by capturing multiple shots. You can capture multiple shots of a subject using this feature and then choose the shot you want to keep. It’s a great feature for novice photographers.
Redesigned Lock Screen
BlackBerry 10 shows notifications from BBM, social networks, SMSs and emails right in your lock screen which is a great way to make your phone work efficiently. You can also access to camera using the lock screen shortcut.
Improved Keyboard
According to BlackBerry, the new and improved keyboard offers “effortless typing experience” with its prediction and suggestion feature. It will also track your common typos and adjust them automatically to keep you from doing the same mistake again and again.
BlackBerry World
The BlackBerry app store currently includes 70,000 BlackBerry 10 apps including movies, music, TV and other necessary apps. It’s not ready to compete with Google Play Store or Apple’s iTunes just yet but it’s a great start.
Improved Browser
BlackBerry’s new BlackBerry 10 browser now comes with HTML 5 support and you can enjoy multiple tabs browsing like Chrome. The browser also features a cool reader mode and a private browsing mode for avoiding ads, internet browsing history and cookies. It’s faster and now supports scrolling and zooming.
New Apps
The new BlackBerry OS now features some nice apps like Story Maker and BlackBerry Remember. You can create nice HD movies using your photos and videos together with Story Maker. BlackBerry Remember can help you to combine and organize all your tasks, to-do lists, documents, photos, emails and other important things easily.
