Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Note 3: Features Bigger Screen And Improved S-Pen

galaxy note 3 specs

Samsung has finally unveiled the second sequel of the one of biggest brands of the company, The Galaxy Note 3. The company revealed the original phablet, the Galaxy Note, two years ago in the same place which is now a very popular lineup. The new smartphone features a bigger 5.7-inch screen as expected with a more utilized and enhanced S-Pen. The bezels of the latest phone are slimmer than the previous notes and come with rounded edges to make it look sleek and stylish. Let’s see what the latest phone has to offer.

Features

The Galaxy Note 3 offers a larger screen with SuperAMOLED 1080p display and an even bigger battery to make sure you get to play with it for a long time. When the first phone came out back in 2011, a phone with 5.3-inch screen seemed funny. However, times have changed since then and a big 6-inch screen phone is nothing nowadays. The users get 386ppi in the screen which is a lot more than the previous two phablets. The third Note is 1.3mm narrower, 1.1mm thinner and slightly taller than the Galaxy Note 2. It’s nice to see how the company managed to trim down the size while giving it a larger display.

Galaxy Note 3 images

One of the biggest changes we noticed while looking at the phone is its back side. The back cover is now showing a leather finish instead of glossy plastic and it feels way more comfortable to hold it now. Moreover, you don’t have to worry about fingerprints now. The Galaxy Note 3 will be available in two different models, one will feature a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset and the other one will feature a 1.9GHz Exynos Octa-core SoC.

Both the models will feature Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, 3GB of RAM, 13-megapixel real camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, optional 32GB or 64GB storage, MicroSDXC card storage expansion, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11ac, LTE Cat4 and IR LED. The rear camera supports capturing UHD and full HD videos.

Software

It looks like Samsung didn’t try to offer new features here but mostly focused on improving the existing features to make things easier for users. The area where we saw some great changes was the S-Pen area which is the main attraction of Galaxy Note lineup. When you pull out the S-Pen from the device, it opens a semi-circular menu using a new feature called Air Command. The menu shows Action Memo, S Finder, Screen Write, Scrapbook and Pen Window.

The Multi-Window feature is also improved in the latest Note and users can now save app combinations in the Multi-Window bar to get quick access. A new drag-and-drop function supports dragging pictures, videos and other items to the other window you are running using Multi-Window. It’s a great way to share things easily.

Nexus 5 (LG G2) : Specs, Release Date, Leaked Images and Rumors

LG is currently working on their next flagship device titled as G2 and rumor has it that this flagship device is going to be the next Nexus device, the Nexus 5. The company has recently confirmed that they are going to drop the Optimus title from the phone and it will be called LG G2. Let’s see what the first smartphone from “G” family has to offer. We don’t have any official details yet so we are going to have to depend on the rumors and leaks for specs and other info.

Nexus 5 Specifications

Google Nexus 5

According to the announcement,s leaked specs and images the LG G2 is going to feature a big 5.2-inch FullHD display with about 423 ppi, a 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait 800 processor(confirmed), 13 megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, LTE radio, dual-speakers and a big 2,540mAh battery. The 800 Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset is currently the most powerful mobile chipset available now and was unveiled at the CES 2013.

nexus 5 images

We heard earlier that the device will feature 3GB of RAM and Google Android Key Lime Pie but now the latest rumor’s say that the device will feature 2GB of RAM instead of 3GB and will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. But don’t worry as the Jelly Bean 4.3 could be ready by that time and will also receive the Key Lime Pie update soon if not out of the box.

The 13-megapixel camera is expected to feature optical image stabilization, face detection, HDR, full HD video recording and the 360 panorama mode.

Design

nexus 5 unveiled

The Big LG G2 is expect to come up with the latest Zero Gap tech which means less bezel and more space for screen. However, if the leaked pic’s by are real, there won’t be a button on the front of the phone and users have to depend on the on-screen buttons. The volume rocker keys are repositioned in the back of the device to make the phone look key-less. The latest flagship device from LG will be bigger than the Samsung Galaxy S4 and will be also loaded with the most powerful mobile chipset currently available.

Both LG and Google are silent about this matter so we are depending on @evleaks’s leaked pictures which looks quite real.  The internal storage of this smartphone is still a mystery and there won’t be any microSD support.

Release Date And Price

We are expecting to see the device on August 7’s press event in NYC. LG is planning something big for August 7 and we believe it’s going to be their next flagship device. However, Google’s 5th birthday is coming in this October so there’s a chance that Google will launch their next Nexus device this October.

The price of the new Nexus 5 is expected to reamin unchanged: $299 and $349 for 16GB and 32GB model respectively. That’s all we have got about the LG G2 (the rumored Google Nexus 5 device) so far. Feel free to share your thoughts and expectations for the upcoming google device in the comments section below.

HTC First Unveiled: The First Phone to Feature Facebook Home

HTC First is now official! After lots of rumors and leaked images, HTC and Facebook have finally unveiled the smartphone yesterday. It’s not exactly similar to the HTC Status which came with a Facebook button so let’s see if the first Facebook Home optimized phone is ready to attract the Android users or not.

HTC first price

Specs and Features

The Facebook Phone will run a customized version of Google’s Android Jelly Bean titled as “Facebook Home” which is tightly integrated with Facebook to make it the “ultimate social phone”. As the leaks hinted earlier, the phone features a 4.3-inch display and 1280×720 display resolution-wise, a dual-core Qualcomm processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB RAM and a 2,000mAh embedded battery that is expected to be non-removable. However, it’s not the hardware specs that we want to know mostly about the First, right?

Facebook home UI

Facebook Home

, a customized version of Android removes the usual backgrounds and homescreens of Android and fills them with updates from your Facebook friends and its own skin. Users will see the log in screen of Facebook when turning on the HTC First for the first time. This new operating system is a great move from Facebook and it can be also downloaded from Google Play Store for selected Android smartphones.

HTC First images

Your lock screen will show different pictures of your friends and from your album every time you open which is a great feature if you love browsing pictures uploaded by your Facebook friends. You will see a small bubble with your profile image on it on the lock screen that can take you to the app launcher, your last used app or to the Facebook messenger.

“Chat Heads” is an attractive feature of Facebook Home that shows a face of your friend in a little balloon when they send a chat message via Facebook or text. It will alert you when you are using an app and stays there. Users can just tap on the balloon to see the message without getting out of the app they were using. Other notable features of this ultimate social phone are- cover feed, attractive notifications system and app launcher.

HTC First release date

Design

The First is a mid-range phone and is not the best phone you can expect from HTC design-wise. There is no “Beats Audio” logo on this model like other HTC phones. The phone will be available in four different colors- red, pale blue, grey and white.

HTC First images

That’s all we know about the latest HTC phone. There is not much to talk about this phone, hardware-wise. The Facebook Home is the only notable feature of this smartphone and the customized Android OS looks attractive for those who are glued to social networks. The HTC First will be available on April 12th for just $99.99 in the US on AT&T only. You can click to pre-order one today.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Rumor Roundup

galaxy s4 teaser image

Samsung is all set to unveil the next Galaxy S phone this Thursday in New York City and we are here with all the latest rumors to give you an idea of what to expect this Wednesday. The Galaxy S4 is considered as one of the most anticipated gadgets of this year so tons of rumors are piling up before the launch event. The next Galaxy S phone is expected to come up with some great feature that will not only top its current Galaxy S phone but will also be ready to compete with the next iPhone and other Android phones.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Design

galaxy S4

We’ve seen plenty of leaked images and rumors so far about the design of Galaxy S4 and if these rumors are real, we can expect to see a slightly changed version of the Galaxy S3 apart from the larger screen. It will be made out of plastic and the sides of the device will be made from aluminium. We were expecting to see better material in its flagship devices but the company has done a good job so far with cheap plastic. If the leaked images are real, we can expect to see thinner bezel than we saw on the last Galaxy S device and attractive aluminium trim.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs

galaxy s4 rumors

The next Galaxy S phone is rumored to feature a big 4.99-inch screen like its Note cousins and a full HD display with 1920×1080 resolution. Such a big display would come with an amazing pixel density of around 441PPI which is more than the resolution of Apple’s Retina display technology and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Apple is also planning to offer a 5-inch screen in their next iPhone but we are not sure if this will be featured in the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6.

galaxy s4 unveiled

The Galaxy S4 will be packed with Quad-core 1.8GHz Cortex-A15 & Quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor (quad-coreprocessor in the U.S. version and eight-cores processor in the international version), Exynos 5 Octa 5410 chipset, a whopping 13-megapixel camera with 1080p video capturing feature, 2.1-megapixel front camera with 1080p video capturing feature, Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS and 2600 mAh battery. We are expecting to see a smarter camera and a more powerful processor in the next iPhone but we are not sure if it will be the same 8-megapixel camera with new technology or a camera with more megapixels.

Innovations to Look for

Samsung’s next big thing will feature an eye-tracking technology that will let you change pages by tracking your eyes. When your eyes will reach the bottom of a page, the smartphone will automatically go to the next page or show the next paragraph. It is also expected to feature wireless charging technology, a Passbook like app we saw in iOS for payment and touchless gestures for different actions.

That’s what we have learned about the next big thing from Samsung so far. We don’t know when it will go on sale but the launch event is on March 14 so we don’t have to wait for too long to find out.

Sony Announces Xperia Tablet Z: A 10.1 Inch Waterproof Ultra Thin Tablet

Sony announced the Xperia Z smartphone at the CES recently and now its cousin, the Xperia Tablet Z has been officially announced today. The company is not very influential in the tablet market but looks like they are ready to compete with iPad with its new 10.1-inch waterproof tablet. Sony and NTT Docomo (Japanese carrier) was planning to announce the tablet on January 22 but Docomo accidentally leaked the tablet details on its website and Blog of Mobile, a popular Japanese gadget site reported the leak instantly.

tablet z

Thinner than the iPad Mini

Just like its smartphone cousin, the Xperia Tablet Z is waterproof and can stay alive under 3 feet of liquid. The tablet comes with a stunning 6.9mm thickness which is thinner than the latest iPad Mini (7.2mm thick). Sony’s Xperia S tablet was also a good looking tablet but its price tag failed to compete with the cheaper alternatives.

Specs

The specs of the tablet are also as amazing as the outside of the device. The tablet features a 1080p screen, a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon chip, 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, NFC and LTE support. It’s the thinnest tablet available so far and is both dust and water-proof. This super thick tablet also features S-Force virtual surround sound system.
