MakeMyBrowser leverages the Chromium project to let you create your very own personalized web browser that is fully capable as any other web browser.

Using MakeMyBroswer to create a browser:
Creating a browser with MakeMyBrowser is really simple and is done in 3 easy steps. Of course you have to create an account and log in so that you can edit the browser later.
Step 1: Select a name and logo
First thing first, name your web browser. You can even edit the name of the browser later on. And then select an image as the logo of the browser. This image will be used as the icon on the desktop. Though there is no restriction on image size and dimension, it will be better to choose a square image. You can also change the logo any time you want.
Step 2: Select bookmarks
Now, to personalize the browser a little bit more, select your favorite bookmarks here. Some bookmarks are added by default such as Gmail, Facebook, Amazon etc. You can choose to keep them or remove them. You can also choose the default homepage of your browser. By default it is set to . If you are a blogger and run a website, it is an excellent way to increase the traffic by putting your own website as homepage.
Step 3: Choose a skin/theme
Apart from the default Chromium theme there are few more skins available for you. You can choose the one you like. Personally, I feel there should be more skins available for users. I have conveyed my concerns to MakeMyBrowser team and they informed me that in near future, more skins will be available. Once you are done click on finish and download to create the browser. Easy no?
You will have a dedicated webpage for your browser on MakeMyBrowser server from where one can download the browser any time. As I mentioned earlier, you can change every aspect of your browser at any time. There are no restrictions on number of edits.
Future improvement and suggestions:
Since MakeMyBrowser is in early phases, it has a lot to grow upon. There are few features which I found missing or I would rather love to have. Since its for free to anyone, I would suggest them to have a premium version and offer few exclusive features in it. These features could be used by organizations, institutes and websites.
- Add options to include plugins as well in the browser and not just bookmarks.
- The page from where the browser can be downloaded is very generic. It should be customizable by the client.
- Ability to provide “on air updates” to the browser. When there are modifications to the browser, users will have to download and install it again. It could be great to have it updated from within the browser itself.
- Cross platform installation. Currently it can be installed only on Windows. Adding Linux and Mac would be make it a complete browser.
Over all, it is really an innovative tool that with some additional features can be used by blogs, schools, universities, organizations and cyber cafe. This does not mean as an individual you cannot try it. Have some fun with your family and friends and have them amazed by your own web browser.
