Formatting a USB drive is no herculean task in Windows, unlike Ubuntu. All you have to do it is to right click on the drive symbol and click on format. But at times you’ll see the following error “Windows was unable to complete the formatting” in Windows 8. It happens particularly after the USB was used as a live USB. Which means when the USB is in bootable format, it refuses to be formatted and gives the following error:
How to solve “Windows was unable to complete the formatting”:
The easiest way to solve this problem is to use different file format while formatting the USB drive. Take a closer look at the file format. It should be FAT 32. Change it to NTFS and then click on format again.
