First thing first, log in to your cPanel.  Here click on Addon Domains in Domains section.

Provide the details of the new domain. Note that this new domain must have been already acquired by you. For the sake of simplicity, I bought the domain from Hostgator instead of going to GoDaddy etc.

Step 2: Install another WordPress website in Hostgator

Once you have added the new domain as an Add-on domain, its time to install the new website. The tutorial is written for WordPress site but same steps can be used to install other types of content manage services (CMS) as well. In the cPanel, go to Software/Services section and choose Quick Install. Fantestico was not very helpful in installing another WordPress site.

In quick install you will get option to choose the place (read domain) where to install WordPress at. These options could be Wesbsite1.com (your original website domain). Website2.com (your newly purchased doamin) or Website2.Website1.com (I am not sure if you want this) or WebsiteX.com/XYZ. If you want this new site to be standalone, choose the domain you just purchased, fill the details and click Install Now!
